- The Balearic Islands
The most well-known Balearic Islands are Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera; which are the largest islands in this archipelago.
With the sole yacht base in the capital, Palma, you can choose to circumnavigate the whole island of Majorca or take time leisurely exploring the nooks and coves along the splendid coastline or alternatively go for longer and sail between the islands; it really is a varied sailing destination.
The Balearic Islands are a destination that is fit for a King; with King Juan Carlos visiting these islands to taste the Lobster stew on Menorca, you'll be in fine company.
There is just the one base to sail from in the Balearics.
Palma (15 minutes from Palma airport) – a large base within walking distance of the historic town of Palma and its charm.
We think so, the Balearics enjoy a mild climate all year round, so ideal for an earlier or later season sail. If it is summer heat that you're looking for, then during the summer months you'll be enjoying an average of 25 degrees and above.
In the western cruising ground the prevailing wind tends to be from the South West during the summer. If venturing east, towards Menorca, the prevailing winds are found from a North/North West direction. With winds reaching an average of force 3 -4, it's great for those who want to kick back and relax.
There are mooring fees in the Balearic Islands, with the peak season running from June to September you can expect to pay €70 for a 39ft yacht. If you're visiting outside of the peak season, then the mooring fees do drop. Although there are also plenty of anchorages to choose from when sailing the Balearic Islands as well, so you can mix and match very easily.
