- Early & Late Summer Two Week Placement Flotillas
During the winter, most of our yachts are wintered in Gouvia Marina, Corfu, where they receive comprehensive maintenance and cosmetic attention. At the end of April all the yachts are sailed to their summer bases and these trips are known as ‘delivery’ or ‘shakedown’ cruises. These shorter placement flotillas travel from Corfu down to Lefkas, Preveza or Plataria in May and do the return trip in October.
This is an unbeatable time of year to visit the Greek Islands...enjoy bays, harbours and whole quaysides to yourselves! These are also fortuitously the most affordable times of year to enjoy a sailing holiday. Tempting stuff...
Generally lovely! These trips are a great way to sneak in some early summer sunshine (whilst the UK is still warming up!). These flotillas are incredibly popular with our keener sailors who like a little bit more wind. The weather is yet to settle into it's summer predictability in late April/early May and so good wind is more common. It is slightly cooler than peak summer months and you do risk a day or two of unsettled weather but it is generally around 20-25°c.
Below is an indication of the yachts that will sail on this flotilla. Please call us on 020 8459 8787 to check live availability.
Our Shore to Sail holidays are a combination of a one or two week flotilla sailing holiday with another relaxing week or two ashore.
These holidays will appeal to those who enjoy sailing but have family or friends who are not quite so enthusiastic about sailing - a compromise can now be made!
Most people opt for a week of sailing followed by a week of winding down on shore. However it is entirely up to you to do what you want to do (and when!)
The Iris Hotel has been a popular choice for flotilla sailors for many years. This accommodation option will fit in with any of our flotillas starting and finishing on Lefkas Island. The hotel itself is a small family run hotel located close to Nidri Town. It has a combination of studio rooms for two or three people and apartments that can sleep up to 4.
The Salvator Spa Hotel is perched in the hills above Parga town and is a slightly more luxurious offering. The rooms on offer range from the Deluxe Room for two people, up to the Superior 2 Room Villa for up to 6 people. The hotel itself has an excellent restaurant, pool and spa facilities and all villas come with their own private pool.
Our brand new villa in Sivota on Lefkas is exclusive to Sailing Holidays Ltd. Built with families and groups in mind, the 3 double bedrooms all feature en-suite bathrooms. Built into the hill the ground floor level comprises of the master bedroom, a large kitchen and living space. On the same level you will find a huge outdoor seating area and a private pool.
Thank you Sailing Holidays, this one week with your flotilla based at Sivota was my first time on a flotilla, and the first time sailing in the Mediterranean. I really enjoyed every minute.I was most impressed by the lead team, Jamie, Tom and Sam. who guided persuaded supported and encouraged the wide range of people on this flotilla from 16 to 76 year olds. They all had confidence yet relaxed manner coping with mooring us in overfilled Kalamos Harbour. Giving us a daily briefing including wind direction advice that the forecasters got completely wrong some days but it did not matter, we had a wonderful time. Thank you all.
We have done the Oct delivery and Northern Regatta quite a few times now, We have never had anything other than the best of times . The Lead crews are always great, even at the end of season . the flotilla crews are a mixed bunch of like minded people , some salty sea dogs some new sailors , every one has always made new friends and we all learn some new skills ;) Thanks to Barrie and his team for keeping the same guidelines for ever . It works so well . Cheers, Jon Erith YC . have a great Christmas and another Amazing New Year :0)
